Buckminster Fuller

This is just a quick book/author recommendation...

If you want to have your mind blown, check out Buckminster Fuller's Critical Path. The author combines History, Economics, Political Science, and Physics, to explain the history of human civilization and plot a course for the future of humanity.

Granted, Fuller wrote this book in 1980, and the world isn't shaping up the way he wanted. But this book will change the way you look at the world, world history, and human civilization. He writes a lot about what has shaped our world and why it is the way it is, bascially because of trends in global economics. In other words: It's all about money, and always has been. But if we're going to continue to thrive (or save ourselves from destruction) we've got to start thinking beyond that. Read below:

"Nothing could be more pathetic than the role that is to be played by the President of the United States, whose power is approximately zero....All that he and Congress can do is adjust to what the 'free enterprise' system has already done. They are at the snapping end of the power-structure dragon's tail."

Read this book. It will broaden the scope with which you view the world.
