Pigs / Horses
38 in. x 14 in.
Acrylic, oil pastel, marker, collage; on wood
2021
About this work: It was around the time I made this painting was when I started drawing animals in the segmented, "no pupil" style you can see in the horse figure near the top. Unlike most of my work, there is actually a "meaning" behind this painting. While I am reluctant to discuss in too much detail what a certain painting "means" (dangerous stuff because it can kill anyone else's subsequent interpretation and alienate people) I will just say that one thought was cruising through my mind as I made this: we often take note of the glorious heroes of battles and wars, but we rarely -- almost never -- acknowledge the animals (pigs, horses, etc.) who were involved in military campaigns, used for food, transport, whatever, and who lost their lives in those conflicts. Contact me for more pictures, details, or to purchase.

Button Push
20.5 in. x 19.5 in.
Acrylic, house paint, oil pastel; on wood
2021
About this piece: This piece was pure fun from the moment I started it. For at about a week (at least) the entire painting was simply the little blue demon in the center, on a yellow background. I liked the simple look of it so much I almost never added anything to the painting. However, I felt that was too easy and there was more that needed to be brought into the conversation. Contact me for more pictures, details, or to discuss purchasing.

La Bugia
24 in. x 12 in.
Acrylic, oil, oil pastel, house paint; on kitchen cabinet door
2021
About this piece: Some pieces have a direct and traceable lineage. This one does not. Frankly, I almost prefer when a piece has no readily available "meaning" because it means that my subconscious mind was operating more freely. I think this is one such piece. This particular piece is unique because it is one of the first times I ever used oil paints in any of my work. Contact me for detailed photos, questions, or to discuss purchasing.

E' Morto
43 in. x 15 in.
Acrylic, oil pastel, marker; on wood
2021
About this piece: Painted on a beautiful piece of varnished walnut that was once a dining room table leaf. This painting is an enigma even to me. Maybe you can apply your own meaning to it over time. The figure that occupies the middle right of the painting is something I had been working on for a while, based loosely off the figures in the Italian "scopa" deck. Contact me directly for more details, close-up photos, or to discuss purchasing.

Confines
30 in. x 21 in.
Acrylic, house paint, soft pastel, oil pastel, & pencil; on cabinet door
2021
About this piece: Painted on a found kitchen cabinet door, this piece was a bit of a departure for me. The surfaces I paint on often "demand" something, and it's almost my responsibility to get out of the way and let the painting come together on its own. This was one such surface/painting. I also used no florescent colors (difficult for me), which took some restraint. Contact me for more pictures, details, or to purchase.

Artifact
28.5 in. x 29.5 in.
Acrylic, oil pastel, house paint, collage, & mixed media; on Ikea tabletop
2021
About this piece: Painted on a found Ikea table top, this work incorporates one of my original block prints as well as a photo print of one of my favorite early collages "Value Priced." This work represents the first time I combined so many different mediums into one painting, which has become a habit since. Contact me with any questions or for additional photos.
