"On Animals" by Susan Orlean

I've read some of Susan Orlean's stuff in The New Yorker, and I know that her book The Orchid Thief  was the inspiration for the movie Adaptation. So I picked this book up expecting...well, I don't know what I was expecting.

After reading one chapter, I think I'm ready to put this book aside. I was hoping for something a little more journalistic. This seems just like a memoir broken up into different chapters about animals. Not very compelling stuff.
